# Booth scanning

Exhibitors and their booth staff scan visitors at their booth with the Talli app on iPhone and Android. Every scan counts as a visit to the booth, and the organizer decides what the brand sees about each visitor.

## Signing in

1. On the welcome screen, tap **I'm at a booth** and enter the email address the organizer invited.
2. Talli emails a sign-in link; open it on the same phone and the app signs you in.

The link works once. You stay signed in until you sign out from the menu on the **Booth** tab, or until the organizer's access for the brand ends, when the app asks for a new link.

Booth staff are often attendees too. Opening your own ticket link while signed in at the booth shows the ticket on top of the booth; close it to keep scanning. If you also work the door with a Talli account on the same phone, opening a booth sign-in link during your shift asks first whether to sign in at the booth. Either way the other sign-in stays on the phone: sign out of the booth, choose **I'm working the door**, and your shift opens again without your password.

## The Booth tab

The header shows the booth and the brand, the event and who is signed in.

- **Visits to your booth today** counts every visitor, with how many shared their contact and how many are counted only.
- **Lead sharing at this event** says what the organizer shares with booths: nothing, visit counts only, or the contacts of attendees who agree.
- **Latest visits** lists the visits scanned on this phone, newest first. Tap a visit to add or change its note and rating.

**No booth yet** means Talli lists no booth for you at an event yet. When the app cannot read your booths and none are saved on the phone, the tab says **Your booths didn't load** instead, with **Try again**.

## The Leads tab

The **Leads** tab lists every visit to the booth, from every phone that scans there, newest first. Each row shows the visitor's name and organization, or **Visitor (contact not shared)** when the brand does not see who they are. It also shows when they first came by, how interested they were, and whether the visit has reached Talli: **Synced**, or **Waiting** while it is still on the phone.

Choose **All**, **Contacts** for visitors who shared their contact, or **Counted** for visits without details. Visits scanned on this phone that have not synced yet are at the top of **All**; their details appear once they reach Talli.

Tap a visit to add or change its note and rating, then choose **Save**. Without signal the change is kept on the phone and shows **Waiting**, and it is sent when the phone is back online. If Talli can no longer take it, for example because the visit was removed, the visit shows **Couldn't sync** and the sheet says why. Pull the list down to sync and read it again.

The list on the phone is read again every time the tab opens online and after every sync, and the new list replaces the old one. When a visitor stops sharing their contact, their name and email go from the phone too, on this tab and in **Latest visits**.

Signing out removes the list, the synced visits and any visits that were not counted from the phone; it waits until every visit and note for your booths has reached Talli. A note the phone cannot count yet, because your booths have not loaded, does not hold sign-out back: it stays on the phone for you, without the visitor's contact, and goes to Talli when you sign in again.

When your sign-in ends without signing out, the list and the synced visits leave the phone too, while visits and notes not sent yet wait for you to sign in again. When someone else signs in at a booth on the same phone, nothing of the earlier person's booths, visits or leads is shown to them. Visits and notes the earlier person had not sent yet stay on the phone without the visitors' contacts, and go to Talli when that person signs in again.

The full list, with ratings and notes, is also in the brand portal on the web; see [Brand portal and booth scanner](https://www.tallievents.com/docs/brand-portal).

## Scanning a visitor

Tap **Scan a visitor**, or the **Scan** tab, and point the camera at the visitor's ticket QR code. You can also type the ticket code.

- When the visitor agreed to share, their contact card shows, with a 1 to 5 rating and a note; **Save and scan next** keeps them with the visit.
- When they did not agree, the visit is counted without contact details, and they can still share later from their ticket.
- At an event that shares visit counts only, every visit is counted without names.
- Scanning the same visitor again says **Already visited - counted once**.

## Without signal

Scans keep working offline. The visit is saved on the phone and shows **Visit counted - contact details appear after sync**. The phone never stores whether a visitor agreed to share, so contact details only appear once the visit reaches Talli. A note and rating you add meanwhile are sent with the visit. When the phone is back online the visit syncs, and the visitor's card replaces the placeholder if they agreed to share.

A visit waits on the phone until the app has read your booths from Talli, and goes only to a booth still on your list. While the app cannot read your booths, for example without signal, a visit for a booth not confirmed on your list keeps waiting and nothing is lost. Pulling down on the **Booth** tab, tapping **Try again**, or coming back to the app reads your booths again.

If your access to a booth ends while a visit for it is still on the phone, the visit is not sent: the app says **A visit couldn't sync**, and the visit shows **Not counted** with the reason. A visit that was on its way when your booths were read, and came back unsent, is treated the same way. It no longer counts as waiting, so it does not keep you from signing out.

## On Android

Signing in, the **Booth** and **Leads** tabs and scanning visitors work as on iPhone, with and without signal. A ticket link opened at the booth and a booth sign-in link opened during a door shift also work as on iPhone.

The booth sign-in link opens the app once Android has verified the domain, which it does on its own after the app is installed. A booth sign-in link opened while the phone is already signed in at a booth asks first (**Sign in with this link?**), because any app on the phone can open such a link; **Keep the current sign-in** leaves the phone as it was. The app asks to use the camera when the **Scan** tab first shows, as at the door.
